An independent community resource for Polk County, Texas.
What this is
PolkTX is a reference site for Polk County. It is not a newspaper and does not cover breaking news, crime, arrests or obituaries. It exists to answer the questions people look up: what is being built, who represents me, when does the council meet, what is open, when is the game.
Who runs it
PolkTX is a project of Tealvana, a local digital agency in Livingston. It is independent and is not affiliated with Polk County government, any city, any school district, any congregation, or the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas.
How it is funded
Directory listings, featured placement, and section sponsorships bought by local businesses. Sponsorship never affects which listings appear or how they rank, and the Elections section is never sponsored. We do not accept political advertising.
How we handle facts
Every name, date and figure traces to an official source, and we link it. Where something is not confirmed, we mark it rather than publishing it as fact. We would rather show fifty verified entries and a note about the rest than ninety where six are wrong.
